Pakistan, Indonesia Bound in Fraternal Ties: CG

16/11/2015 (Pakistan Observer) - Bonded by fraternal ties, Indonesia and Pakistan have best of relationship, at popular level too, said the Indonesian consul general in Karachi, Hadi Santoso, showcasing his country’s solo exhibition, and rich cultural heritage with a show at the National Academy of Performing Arts at the week-end.

Working overtime, he and his staff at the diplomatic mission in the city, have reaped rich harvest, raising the bilateral trade level by 40 percent in a short span of time of barely two years, to a comfortable US $ 2.2 billion annually this year.

That is not all, ever since coming here, Hadi has been winning new friends almost every day, with his enormous courtesies for almost all possible segments of the society, media, economists, businessmen, cultural organisations, and even lecture at a private university.

That has encouraged him to organize a cultural show in Karachi, called the cultural dialogue and dance performance in cooperation with NAPA. The show enthralled an audience, captivating it for considerable length of time. This was a great success for Hadi and his colleagues.

A two-day solo exhibition, organized at a local hotel on 14th and 15th of this month, preceded by a seminar on Palm oil in cooperation with the Indonesian Palm Oil Association and the Pak-Indonesia Business Forum The business forum is meant to introduce sustainable Indonesian Palm Oil, establish good communication among palm oil businessmen in Pakistan, and enhance the network of palm oil industry in the two brotherly countries. Meanwhile, the IPSE is meant to foster trade relationship of the two countries where business communities can have better understanding each other through the two days event, he said.

The Charge de Affaires Ad Interim of Indonesia Embassy Islamabad, Mr Samsu Rizal, Chairman of Indonesia Palm Oil Association, Mr Joko Supriyono, Vice Chairman of Indonesia Palm Oil Association, Member of Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturer’s Association (PVMA) Abdul Rasheed Jan Muhammad and Former Senior Vice President KCCI, Mr Muhammad Ibrahim Kasumbi shared their views about the palm oil business and Indonesia-Pakistan bilateral trade.

“We are pleased to invite 8 Indonesian businessmen to Karachi to showcase their products not only to Karachi businessmen but also to Pakistan. Several products such as spices, traditional snacks, herbal medicine, biscuits, pearl jewellery, women muslim wear, palm oil will be introduced. Not only products, one travel agent company also come to explore tourism opportunities between Indonesia and Pakistan” said Mr Hadi Santoso, Indonesia Consul General – Karachi.

“This is tangible effort we do to increase business to business and people to people contact and I will do more in future during my tenure”, added Mr Santoso. The trade balance of 2015 expected to surpass the achievement on previous year, he looked positive.In keeping with the tradition and cultural of the founding principles of Panchashila (five principles), Hadi struck a huge Copper Bell five times with a hammer, thus taking the guests back to history. The cultural show was a marvelous presentation in which both Hadi and his wife Wati took pains to organize, and were happy to see it as great success.
