13/11/2015 (Bernama) - Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Bhd and Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) have signed collaboration agreement on research and development of commodity derivaties products.

In a joint statement, Bursa Malaysia Derivatives and DCE said the agreement was signed at the tenth annual China International Oils & Oilseeds Conference in Guangzhou today.

It said the agreement further discussed and explored deepening product research and other opportunities for cooperation, which would facilitate the implementation of the 'One Belt and One Road' strategy for the Chinese Government.

Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia Bhd, Datuk Tajuddin Atan, said the agreement reflected commitment to deepen collaboration through development of commodity derivatives products specifically in palm oil-based, in the near term.

"This initiative will be the first towards interlinking and strengthening palm oil-based derivatives products between our two exchanges that will be beneficial for both markets," he said.

Tajuddin said production innovation was one of the essential tools for ensuring growth of derivatives markets.

"We are glad to continue working with DCE to jointly promote and develop the physical and futures markets with regards to oils and oilseeds in Asia by improving the access to knowledge and products," he said.

Chief Executive Officer of DCE, Feng Bo, said as the products of DCE and Bursa Malaysia were highly correlated and complementary, the smooth cooperation between the two sides would promote the development level of the two exchanges and enhance the influence of the markets.

"It will also benefit the related enterprises along the palm oil industrial chain in China and Malaysia," he said.
