08/07/2015 (Reuters) - The Karachi Port handled 115,256 tonnes of cargo comprising 96,724 tonnes of import cargo and 18,532 tonnes of export cargo including 4,949 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 96,724 tonnes comprised of 48,414 tonnes of containerised cargo; 19,806 tonnes of bulk cargo: 9,240 tonnes of coal; 7,990 tonnes of DAP; 2,576 tonnes of scrap and 28,504 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 18,532 tonnes comprised of 18,361 tonnes of containerised cargo; 155 tonnes of general cargo and 16 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,949 containers comprising of 3,351 containers import and 1,598 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The break-up of imported containers shows 1,127 of 20's and 1,019 of 40's loaded while 10 of 20's and 88 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 577 of 20's and 148 of 40's loaded containers while 249 of 20's and 238 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Erin Schulte, MT Quetta and Success Daila-XLVIII carrying oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Corvette, X-Press Kailash, Genmar Consul and Leopard carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.
There was four ships namely Sino Bridge, X-Press Kailash, Corvette and Navios Armonia carrying containers and DAP sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while two ships namely Hyundai Jakarta and Quest carrying containers and DAP respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
There were six vessels viz. Mermaid Express, Tulip, Intrepid Republic, Captain Harry, IYO and Tubarao carrying oil tankers, steel and coal respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while five vessels viz. YM Excellence, Northern General, PAC Aries, Bhiravi and Bulk Guatemala carrying containers, chemical and SB meal respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 52,478 tonnes comprising 41,162 tonnes of import cargo and 11,316 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,172 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 41,162 tonnes includes 6,256 tonnes of furnace oil; 7,748 tonnes of palm oil; 7,271 tonnes of chemical and 19,887 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 11,316 tonnes includes 6,591 tonnes of cement and 4,725 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were five ships namely CV CMA CGM Florida, CV Alliance Lovis, MV Intrepid Republic, MV Lunita and MT Chem Road Fuji with containers, chemical, cement and oil tanker sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Florida, CV Alliance Lovis, CV MSC Carolina, Intrepid Republic, MV Lunita, MV Anemos, MT Ocean Star, MT GPII and MT Chem Road Fuji currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, chemical, iron ore, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as four ships carrying containers, gas oil and edible oil at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Tuesday. There were six vessels carrying containers, coal, chemical, furnace oil and edible oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday. There are three ships namely CV Maersk Sentosa, CV Mayssan and MT Success Daha carrying containers and edible oil due to arrive on Tuesday.
