02/06/2015 (Buenos Aires Herald) - Palm oil workers and companies are set to sign today a salary agreement reached with the government after a strike which lasted 25 days.

The raise includes a 27.8 percent agreed with the Labour Ministry and an additional raise negotiated with employers.

Labour Minister Carlos Tomada today denied the existance of secret clauses within the deal, saying "Collective bargainings have traditionally two parts: on one hand the salary scale, and on the other hand the conventional clauses, which are related to labour conditions."

General-Secretary of Palm Oil Workers Federation Daniel Yofra said the salary agreement reached with the Labour Ministry establishes a 27.8 percent hike, in line with what other unions like UOM, UPCN and UOCRA agreed previously. However, the total hike will be of 36 percent, after workers reached a separate deal with the sector's companies.

The agreement had been reached after a 25-day strike in the city of Rosario, with dozens of ships at a standstill in the Paraná River.
