22/01/2015 (Bernama) - The Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) aims to rake in RM400 million in sales at the Gulfood 2015, the biggest annual food and hospitality trade show in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) from Feb 8-12.

Its deputy chief executive officer, Datuk Dzulkifli Mahmud, said 81 Malaysian exhibitors, of which 35 per cent of them were new companies and 25 per cent Bumiputera firms, would participate in the four-day specialised mission.

"The programmes include pre-arranged individual business meetings and business matchings for Malaysian participants with potential companies in the UAE and its neighbouring nations that participate in the event.

"Our food products are widely accepted worldwide because of their stringent standards and high quality.

"The halal certification from Malaysia gives the products an added advantage in marketing food products here," he told a media briefing on Gulfood 2015 here today.

He said among the products promoted by companies during the annual event were frozen food items, palm oil products, confectioneries, sauces and pastes, beverages and food ingredients.

The event aims to attract about 4,800 international companies from 120 countries such as Africa, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. It will be held Dubai World Trade Centre and is expected to attract 85,000 visitors from 170 countries.
