VEGOILS-Market Factors to Watch Jan 2
02/01/2015 (Reuters) - The following factors are likely to influence Malaysian palm oil futures and other vegetable oil markets.
FUNDAMENTALS
* Malaysian palm oil futures fell on Wednesday, but held on to this month's strong gains as monsoon floods curb output in Malaysia, although the market recorded a 15 percent drop this year due to plentiful global edible oil supplies.
* U.S. soybean futures fell on Wednesday and ended 2014 with their biggest loss in a decade as bumper production in the United States and South America replenished global supply of the protein-rich oilseed.
* Oil prices fell on Wednesday to a 5-1/2-year low and ended with their second-biggest annual decline ever, down by half since June under pressure from a global glut of crude.
MARKET NEWS
* The euro started the new year at 29-month lows in Asia after the head of the head of the European Central Bank fanned expectations it would take bolder steps on stimulus this month, so underlining the U.S. dollar's rate advantage.
