20/10/2014 (Business Recorder) - A cargo volume of 109,941 tonnes comprising 70,239 tonnes of import cargo and 39,702 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,539 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 70,239 tonnes includes 31,404 tonnes of furnace oil; 9,700 tonnes of palm oil; 3,956 tonnes of chemicals; 16,000 tonnes of rape seed and 9,179 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 39,702 tonnes includes 24,015 tonnes of cement; 1,516 tonnes of steel coils and 14,171 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were two ships namely CV Spirit of Mumbai and MV Gleden with containers and chemical sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours, while three more ships namely CV Rio Bravo, CV Delmas Keta and MT Al-Salam-II with containers and furnace oil are sailed out to sea on Saturday.

A total number of eleven vessels viz CV Rio Bravo, CV Delmas Keta, CV Spirit of Mumbai, MV KN Forest, MV Melos, MV Elpiuda, MT Feng Hai-35, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Adfines Sun, MV Roscho Poplar and MV KPS-1 Alican Bey were currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, steel coils, chemical, rape seed, palm oil, furnace oil and power ship respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as six ships namely Khi Hong, Truk Gas, Ocean Mercury, MT Quetta, MT Lahore and Glory Trader with cement, LPG, gas oil, carbon oil, furnace oil and sunflower seed are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were five vessels with containers, cement and chemical took berths at Qasim Internation Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday. There are two ships namely MT Turk Gas and MT Ocean Mercury with LPG and carbon oil due to arrive on Saturday as per arrival schedule.
