Palm Oil/Vegoils: Market Factors to Watch Aug 7 Thursday
07/08/2014 (Reuters) - The following factors are likely to influence Malaysian palm oil futures and other vegetable oil markets on Thursday.
FUNDAMENTALS
* Malaysian palm oil futures slipped to a near-one-year low on Wednesday, stretching losses into a third straight session as a bout of technical selling dragged on prices that were already under pressure from weaker competing edible oils.
* U.S. wheat rose to a one-month high on Wednesday as renewed political conflict in the Black Sea grain export region and worries about European crop quality prompted investors to cover short positions, traders said.
* Oil prices fell on Wednesday as abundant supplies in the United States drove the U.S. contract to its lowest close in six months, while Brent prices floundered near nine-month lows.
MARKET NEWS
* European stocks fell on Wednesday as concerns over a Russian troop build-up on the border with Ukraine sent nervous investors into high-rated bonds, while U.S. stocks closed little changed to hold at support levels.
