Ondo Exports Kolanuts, Palm Oil
26/06/2014 (Nigerian Tribune) - Kolanuts and palm oil produced from Ondo State are now being sold in several countries across Africa including Chad, Central African Republic, Gabon and Niger Republic, as well as some European and Middle-Eastern countries.
The Commissioner for Natural Resources, Tunde Atere disclosed this yesterday, at a meeting held with members of the Hausa communities dealing in the produce in Ondo, Ore in Ondo West and Odigbo Local Government Areas respectively.
He emphasised the need for prompt payment of the new tariff which he said had not reflected in the State Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) as expected, since last year when it was effected.
He said it was necessary to start its implementation so that the government can continue to deliver the dividends of democracy.
Atere, who appreciated the Hausa traders for their loyalty and peaceful conduct, appealed that they should ensure payment of the new rate.
He reiterated the commitment of the government to the people saying that their request and challenges would be looked into and would become a thing of the past.
At their different loading sites, the Sarkis of the two communities appreciated the governor for identifying with them through the appointment of one of them as a Special Assistant to the governor on Hausa matters.
