23/06/2014 (Business Recorder) - A cargo volume of 106,553 tonnes comprising 94,303 tonnes of import cargo and 12,250 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,344 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 94,303 tonnes includes 47,472 tonnes of diesel oil; 20,940 tonnes of palm oil; 5,445 tonnes vegetable oil; 2,769 tonnes of MEG; 5,012 tonnes of chemicals; 11,015 tonnes of steel coil and 1,650 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo includes 12,250 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were two ships namely CV Huga Schulte and CV Venezia with containers sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours, while another ship namely MT Al-Soor-II with diesel oil sailed out to sea on Saturday morning. A total number of nine vessels viz CV Huga Schulte, CV Venezia, MT Bunga Akasia, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Atlantic Glory, MV Akami, MT Golden Trader, MV Dong Hai and MV KPS-1 Alican Bey were currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, chemical, diesel oil, palm oil, vegetable oil, dredger and power ship respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as three ships namely RBD Anema-e-Core, Maersk Mikage and KN Forest with furnace oil and cement are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There was one vessel with chemical took berth at Engro Vopak Terminal on Friday. There are four ships namely CV CSL Ride, CV Kumasi, MV KN Forest and MT Maersk Kikage with containers, cement and furnace oil due to arrive on Saturday as per arrival schedule.
