03/05/2014 (Business Recorder) - A cargo volume of 153,329 tonnes comprising 113,324 tonnes of import cargo and 40,005 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 6,025 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 113,324 tonnes includes 34,847 tonnes of furnace oil; 13,500 tonnes of palm oil; 3,777 tonnes of coke and 61,200 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 40,005 tonnes includes 11,455 tonnes of cement and 28,550 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were two ships namely CV Posen and CV CMA CGM Debussy with containers sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours, while another ship namely MT New Horizon with edible oil sailed out to sea on Thursday.
A total number of ten vessels viz CV Posen, CV CMA CGM Debussy, CV CMA CGM Berlioz, CV Aviator, MV Raurus, MT Densa Cougar, MT Genuine Venus, MT New Horizon, MV Cailan, and MV KPS-1 Alican Bey were currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement coke, furnace oil, palm oil and power ship respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as three ships namely Al-Soor-II, Genga Lanner and Success Marilina with diesel oil and palm oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There were four vessels with containers, cement, wheat and palm oil took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Grains & Fertilizer Terminal (FAP) and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There are two ships namely CV Bux Contact and CV Dubai Express with containers due to arrive on Thursday as per arrival schedule.
