Activities At Karachi and Qasim Ports
18/04/2014 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 133,476 tonnes of cargo comprising 93,543 tonnes of import cargo and 39,933 tonnes of export cargo during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 93,543 tonnes comprised of 57,005 tonnes of containerised cargo; 21 tonnes of general cargo; 24,517 tonnes of bulk cargo: 19,025 tonnes of coal; 5,492 tonnes of soyabean meal and 12,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 39,933 tonnes comprised of 21,446 tonnes of containerised cargo; 127 tonnes of general cargo; 9,246 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,886 tonnes of iron steel; 6,360 tonnes of talcum powder and 9,114 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. There were two ships namely Express Kailash and CSC Cyanite carrying containers and naphtha respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Express Kailash, Santa Rosa, Simoa, Argent Aster, Daebo Masan and Faith carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were five ships namely Hyundai Jakarta, Simoa, Argent Aster, Shi Zi Shan and Aquila carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while three ships namely Santa Rosa, Japan and Faith with containers and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
There were six vessels viz. Wan Hai-513, PAC Aries, MSC Levina, Pacific Sun, JS Congo and Lucky Trader carrying containers, naphtha, coal and talcum powder respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while seven vessels viz. Carolina, Kota Kaya, APL Sokhna, UASC Ajman, Cora, MT Lahore and Grand Champion carrying containers, naphtha, oil tankers and vehicles respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 83,896 tonnes comprising 43,540 tonnes of import cargo and 40,356 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 4,091 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. As many as 4,091 containers comprising 1,967 containers import and 2,124 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely CV Najran with containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely CV Maersk Kingston and MV Yas with containers and chemicals are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of five vessels viz. CV Maersk Kingston, CV MSC Najran, CV Safmarine Ngami, MT Ardmore Centurion and MV Yas were occupied berths to load/offload containers, chemicals, palm oil and chemicals respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as four ships with containers, furnace oil and diesel oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were three vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Maupassant, MT Bunga Allium and MT Al-Salam-II carrying containers and diesel oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There are three ships namely CV OOCL Kobe, CV Express and CV Rio Deleplata with containers due to arrive on Thursday.
