31/03/2014 (Business Recorder) - A cargo volume of 61,218 tonnes comprising 47,348 tonnes of import cargo and 13,870 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 3,636 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 47,348 tonnes includes 8,000 tonnes of palm oil; 1,128 tonnes of VCM; 10,142 tonnes of steel coil and 28,087 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo includes 13,870 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were three ships namely CV Rio Bravo, MT Gas Trxiana and MT Global Vika with containers, steel coil and palm oil sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours. A total number of seven vessels viz CV MSC Didem, CV Rio Bravo, MV Al-Azzizoo, MV Allstar Atlas, MT Gas Trxiana, MT Global Vika and MV KPS-1 Alican Bey were currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, palm oil, VCM and power ship respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as three ships namely Al-Soor-II, Autaurus and Valerie with diesel oil, palm oil and cement are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were three vessels with containers and steel coil took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Friday. There are four ships namely CV MSC Janny, MT Brezoo, Nave Constellation and MV Spruce Jo with containers, furnace oil, palm oil and chemicals due to arrive on Saturday as per arrival schedule.
