Dry weather in Southern Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul and Paraná) combined with the excess of rains in Mato Grosso have made Safras & Mercado, a Porto-Alegre based consultancy, change its projection for corn and soybean production in the country. According to Safras & Mercado, the soybean production would be 86.1 million tons, while the January forecast for the soybean output was 91.8 million tons. The losses in the state of Paraná alone would be 1.7 million tons.
