03/02/2014 (Sun.star) - Last Jan. 18, 2014 was a momentous day for Delima Oil Products Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian subsidiary under the Felda Global Ventures Holdings Berhad (FGV) and the local Intisaru Mulia International, Inc. (IMI) as they signed a distribution agreement for Saji Cooking Oil and other products. This also marked as the official date of entry of the Saji Cooking Oil, premium palm oil-based cooking oil, into the Philippine market.

Delima Oil is hoping to penetrate 10 percent of the Philippine market by 2017 through this partnership with IMI.

Fairus Ismal, executive vice president for the transformation management of FGV, said that the demand and the response of the Philippine consumers to their products have encouraged them to expand the market and their product offerings.

FGV is looking into further distributing their palm oil-based products beyond the Malaysian shores, where they are the leader in the consumer products.

Since Saji Cooking Oil was introduced to the Cebuano market February of last year, the sales have been going up to 1,000 percent. They are targeting 20 percent of the Cebu market.

Saji Cooking Oil defines itself from the rest of its competitors being a healthy alternative to other cooking oil in the market. It takes pride in being cholesterol and trans fat free. It’s also priced competitively to suit the average Filipino budget.

“Every Filipino should experience premium quality cooking oil at an affordable price,” Marin Taboada, managing director of IMI, said. (ADO).
