29/12/2013 (Business Recorder) - A cargo volume of 70,701 tonnes comprising 25,508 tonnes of import cargo and 45,193 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,623 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 25,508 tonnes includes 5,500 tonnes of palm oil; 7,160 tonnes of fertiliser; 1,832 tonnes of VCM and 11,016 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 45,193 tonnes includes 10,437 tonnes of cement; 7,301 tonnes of rice and 27,455 tonnes of containerised cargo. There is one ship namely CV OOCL Kobe with containers sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours, while another ship namely MV Norgas Patricia with VCM sailed out to sea on Saturday morning.

A total number of ten vessels viz CV OOCL Kobe, CV MSC Sarah, CV Rio Dela Plata, MV Densa Leopard, MV Hay, MV Alam Manis, MV AS Valdivia, MT Genuine Galaxy, MT Norgas Patricia and MV KPS-1 Alican Bey are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, palm oil, VCM, fertiliser and power ship respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as three ships namely MSC Kerry, Al-Salam-II and Feng Hai-33 with containers, diesel oil and palm oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were three vessels with containers and palm oil took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday. There are two ships namely CV MSC Kerry and MT Al-Salam-II with containers and diesel oil due to arrive on Saturday as per arrival schedule.
