Activities At Karachi and Qasim Ports

11/12/2013 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 147,099 tonnes of cargo comprising 108,641 tonnes of import cargo and 38,458 tonnes of export cargo including c loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 108,641 tonnes comprised of 33,149 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,088 tonnes of bulk cargo and 72,404 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo comprised of 38,458 tonnes of containerised.

As many as 4,708 containers comprising 2,365 containers import and 2,343 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,167 of 20's and 449 of 40's loaded while 16 of 20's and 142 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,252 of 20's and 300 of 40's loaded containers while 457 of 20's and 17 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There are eight ships namely APL Sydney, Violetta, OOCL Britian, Santa Rosa, Atlantic Muse, MT Lahore, Lodestar Grace and Noble Coral carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There are eight vessels viz MOL Performance, MOL Direction, Hanjin Indigo, Sagamore, Lodestar Grace, MT Quetta, Propel Progress and Noble Coral carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There are three ships namely MOL Performance, MT Quetta and Silver One carrying containers, oil tanker and seeds respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while another ship namely MOL Direction carrying containers is expected to sail on Tuesday.

There are three vessels viz Hyundai Bangkok, Posen and Kota Gembira carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 56,044 tonnes comprising 42,875 tonnes of import cargo and 13,169 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 663 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 42,875 tonnes includes 35,603 tonnes of diesel oil; 5,500 tonnes of palm oil; 304 tonnes project cargo and 1,368 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 13,169 tonnes includes 1,940 tonnes of rice and 11,229 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 663 containers comprising 72 containers import and 591 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There are three ships namely MT Chembulk Point, MT Al-Salam-II and MV Chipol Brok Galaxy with edible oil, diesel oil and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning.

A total number of six vessels viz MV Christos Theo, MV Chipol Brok Galaxy, MV Beacon SW, MV Theo Flaktos, MT Chembulk Point and MT Al-Salam-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload rice, project cargo, wheat, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as five ships namely Genuine Galaxy, Feng Hai-35, Beecg-4, Atlantic Glory and Noble Coral carrying palm oil, furnace oil, chemicals and steel coil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.

There are five vessels viz CV Nysted Maersk, CV Sea Crystal, MV Noble Coral, MT Feng Hai-35 and MV Atlantic Glory with containers, steel coil, palm oil and chemicals expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Monday. There is one ship namely CV Hanjin Reno carrying containers due to arrive as per schedule.
