Douglas To Lead Palm Oil Technical Mission To China

07/12/2013 (Bernama) - Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, will lead a palm oil technical mission to China from Dec 8-10.

In a statement today, the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities said the delegation comprised representatives from the ministry, Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) and the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC).

The ministry said the mission would visit MPOB and MPOC office in Shanghai to discuss on palm oil market situation and progress made on palm oil research activities in China.

It would also convene bilateral meetings with China's ministers of National Health and Family Planning Commission Minister and China Food and Drug Administration on measures to promote palm oil in the country.

"The bilateral meetings with the ministers are aimed at discussing measures to strengthen palm oil exports and use in China and these include possible collaboration activities in research," it said.

The ministry said there would also be a 'Palm Oil Health and Nutritional' Seminar in Beijing on Dec 9.

"The seminar aims at disseminating information on the latest development in the use of palm oil for food and non-food purposes," it said.

The speakers at the seminar would also share research information on the nutritional benefits of palm oil, it said.
