Activity at Karachi and Qasim Ports
15/11/2013 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 61,918 tonnes of cargo comprising 48,052 tonnes of import cargo and 13,866 tonnes of export cargo including 2,535 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 48,052 tonnes comprised of 28,999 tonnes of containerised cargo; 928 tonnes of general cargo; 3,427 tonnes of bulk cargo and 14,698 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 13,866 tonnes comprised of 13,055 tonnes of containerised cargo and 811 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 2,535 containers comprising 1,769 containers import and 766 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 787 of 20's and 491 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 394 of 20's and 104 of 40's loaded containers while 26 of 20's and 69 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There are six ships namely Hyundai Colombo, UASC Shuwaikh, Cristallo, Capriole, Rickmers Dubai and Yong Famen carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There are five vessels viz Kota Gembira, Posen, Capriole, Jupiter Charm and Tabernacle Prince carrying containers, oil tanker, general cargo and cement respectively currently at the berths. There are two ships namely Ever Result and Kong Que Zuo carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
There are three vessels viz Kota Garum, Neelambari and Ginga Loepard carrying containers and chemicals respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while seven vessels viz MSC Carla, APL Sydney, Rio Blanco, Captain Costas, Santa Rosa, Beech-4 and Dl Violet carrying containers, crude oil and chemicals respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 118,742 tonnes comprising 77,673 tonnes of import cargo and 41,069 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 4,089 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 77,673 tonnes includes 20,437 tonnes of diesel oil; 682 tonnes of chemicals; 7,600 tonnes of palm oil; 3,981 tonnes of fertiliser and 44,973 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 41,069 tonnes includes 8,351 tonnes of cement and 32,718 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,089 containers comprising 2,367 containers import and 1,722 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There are five ships namely CV Nested Maersk, CV Maersk Kingston, CV Sabya, MT Al-Salam-II and MT Miramis carrying containers, diesel oil and edible oil sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning.
A total number of seven vessels viz CV Nested Maersk, CV Maersk Kingston, CV Sabya, MV Alam Sayang, MV Cardinal, MT Miramis and MT Al-Salam-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, fertiliser, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as six ships namely CMA CGM Mozart, Beacon Sin, Elini-D, Lito, Theo Flaktos and Bunga Angsana carrying containers, wheat, sunflower seeds and palm oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are two vessels viz CV CMA CGM Mozart and MT Bunga Angsana with containers and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There are three ships namely CV Box Contact, CV JPO Libra and CV Dubai Express carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely CV MSC Coral with containers is due to arrive on Friday. As many as six vessels viz CV MSC Kerry, CV Maersk Columbus, MT Al-Soor-II, MV Stoll Viking, MV HHH Richard Bay and MV Tian Wang Xing carrying containers, diesel oil, phosphoric acid and project cargo are also due to arrive as per schedule.
