Indonesia’s Palm Oil Exports Seen at 18.5-19 Million Tons in 2013
14/11/2013 (Jakarta Globe) - Palm oil exports from Indonesia, the world’s biggest producer of the edible oil, will reach a higher-than-forecast 18.5-19 million tons this year despite output dropping below a previous target, an official of a top industry association said on Wednesday.
The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) earlier this year forecast exports to reach 17-18 million tons.
“The increase in exports amid declining output forecast is because the carryover at the beginning of this year reached 6 million tons, higher than previous years,” GAPKI secretary Joko Supriyono told reporters.
In September, another top palm oil industry body scaled back its 2013 palm oil output target as a result of wet weather conditions this year.
