Unmask Palm Oil Wants Clearer Food Labelling
30/08/2013 (Newstalk ZB) - Petitioners are calling on the Government to change the rules on food labelling.
Unmask Palm Oil wants the Government to introduce clearer labelling around products containing palm oil and have presented a 7000 signature signature to Parliament to back their case.
Spokesman Ben Dowdle says there are a lot of consumers who want to buy products that are palm oil free but at the moment it's absolutely impossible for them to do so.
"We've got 700 people who have signed the petition, who support us, and we haven't come across anyone that's against the change apart from the minister.
"It's a very, very simple change that will allow consumers to have a simple choice at the supermarket.
"And it's time they actually listened to that."
