RP Offers Indonesia 12,000 Hectares for Oil Palm Plantation

01/06/2013 (Jakarta Post) - The Philippine government has offered the Indonesian government 12,000 hectares of land in Mindanau Island to be developed into a oil palm plantation by the latter's state-owned company.

State-Owned Enterprises Ministry spokesman Faisal Halimi said as quoted by kompas.com on Friday that the offer was extended to State-Owned Enterprise Minister Dahlan Iskan during a breakfast meeting in Manila on Friday.

Present at the breakfast meeting were several Philippine ministers.

Among the ministers present at the meeting were Deputy Political Minister Evan P. Garcia, Foreign Minister Cesar V. Purisima and Industrial and Trade Minister Gregory L. Domingo.

Currently, the Indonesian government has 14 state-owned enterprises engaged in the plantation sector.
