Matrade Launches Malaysian Exporters Of Biomass, Related Services Directory
22/05/2013 (Bernama) - The Malaysia Exporters of Biomass and Related Services Directory, showcasing the business contacts of 67 export-ready Malaysian manufacturers of biomass products and services, is now available.
Published by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) in collaboration with POIC Sabah Sdn Bhd, the directory was launched today in conjunction with the opening of the Biomass Asia Conference 2013 here.
The directory will act as a sourcing guide for international buyers and importers and highlights useful references for businesses involved in pellets, briquettes, palm fibres, biodegradable products, machinery and consulting services for the industry.
As the world's second largest producer and largest exporter of palm oil, Malaysia has the advantage of producing large amounts of oil palm biomass.
Aside from oil palm biomass, the National Biomass Strategy 2020, launched in 2011, also focuses on biomass from other sources like forestry as well as other agricultural by-products and municipal waste.
In essence, the strategy is expected to generate RM30 billion in new income by 2020 and create 60,000 new employment opportunities, of which 40,000 will be under the highly-skilled category.
