FOREX: Ringgit Closes Higher Against Dollar
26/04/2013 (Bernama) - The ringgit closed higher against the US dollar in the late session today, benefiting from the rebound in crude palm oil (CPO) prices, dealers said.
At 5pm, the ringgit was quoted at 3.0365/0395 to the greenback against Wednesday's close of 3.0475/0500.
A dealer said the uptrend in CPO prices indirectly helped the ringgit to strengthen its position, as Malaysia is the world's second largest palm oil producer after Indonesia, as well as a net exporter.
"The uptrend in the yuan against the greenback also fueled strong support for the local note," he added.
The ringgit also traded mixed against other major currencies.
It was marginally better against the yen at 3.0585/0619 from 3.0597/0635 on Wednesday, but depreciated against the British pound at 4.6859/6915 from 4.6532/6580 previously.
The ringgit was slightly lower against the euro at 3.9651/9696 from 3.9648/9687 yesterday, but slightly higher against the Singapore dollar at 2.4516/4558 from 2.4559/4587.
