27/03/2013 (FoodBev.com) - Waitrose will reach its challenging target of 100% fully sustainable palm oil by the end of this year (2012), the company has said.

The palm oil will be certified as sustainable by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), to ensure that it does not contribute to deforestation.

As the Department for Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) releases its national statement asking organisations to aim towards 100% sustainable palm oil by 2015, Waitrose will achieve this industry leading target in two months time.
