Najib To Launch 2012 National Transformation Programme Annual Report Tuesday

19/03/2013 (Bernama) - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will launch the 2012 National Transformation Programme(NTP) Annual Report on Tuesday.

The annual report covers the outcome of the initiatives under both the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) and Economic Transformation Programme (ETP).

The launch will be telecast "live" from Auditorium Perdana, Angkasapuri here.

The brainchild of the Prime Minister and implemented under the purview of the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu), the GTP is deeply rooted in the 1Malaysia motto, "People First, Performance Now".

There are seven NKRAs or National Key Results Areas under the GTP.

They are, reducing crime, fighting corruption, improving student outcomes, rural development as well as urban public transport and raising living standards of low-income households while addressing the cost of living.

Meanwhile under the ETP, a comprehensive effort to transform Malaysia into a high-income nation by 2020, Pemandu has set 12 NKEAs or National Key Economic Areas.

They are oil, gas and energy, palm oil & rubber, financial services, tourism, business services, electrical and electronics, wholesale and retail, education, healthcare, communications content and infrastructure, agriculture, and Greater Kuala Lumpur/Klang Valley.

Six Strategic Reform Initiatives (SRI) have also been established by Pemandu Embracing policy measures that will make Malaysia more competitive, it covers competition, standards & liberalisation, government's role in business, human capital development, public service delivery, narrowing disparity and public finance reform.

Pemandu was formally established on Sept 16, 2009 and is a unit under the Prime Minister's Department.

Pemandu's main role and objective is to oversee the implementation, assess the progress, facilitate, as well as support the delivery and drive the progress of the GTP and ETP.
