Shipping Activity At Port Qasim
14/02/2013 (Business Recorder) - MT Bunga Azalea carrying 11,998 tonnes palm oil was allotted berth at Liquid Cargo Terminal at Port Qasim on Tuesday, port sources said here Wednesday.
Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at 64% on Tuesday where nine ships namely C.V Maersk Kingston, C.V Hanjin Irene, C.V Nedlloyd Mercator, M,V Thai Hawk, M.V Aurora SB, M.T Bunga Azalea, M.T Strilen, M.T Liberty-N and M,T Akaki occupied berths at PQA to load/ ofload containers, cement, palm oil, LPG and furnace oil during te last 24 hours.
A record cargo handling was achieved at the Port on Tuesday where a cargo volume of 0.158 million tonnes, comprising 0.104 million tonnes imports and 0.054 million tonnes exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 4,483 containers (2,261 imports and 2,222 exports TEUs) were handled.
Edible oil carrier M.T Strilen sailed out at sea on Tuesday morning, while five more ships C.V Maersk Kingston, C.V Hanjin Irene, C.V Nedlloyd Mercator, M.V Thai Hawk and M.T Akaki were expected to sail on the same afternoon.
Two ships C.V CMA CGM Verdi and M.T Ardmore Galaxy carrying containers and palm oil were expected to take berth at Container Terminal and Liquid Terminal respectively on Tuesday, while two more container ships Hanso Liberty and APL Atlantic are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Wednesday.
