Malaysian Firm To Supply Palm Oil Into Bangladesh

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 3 (Bernama) -- Malaysian-based company, Azmin and SivamSdn Bhd (A&S), is looking to export edible oils on a monthly basis toBangladesh from the middle of this month.

Its managing director, M Sivam said for the first shipment, the companywould be exporting 1,000 metric tonnes to Bangladesh through its localpartner there, Keya Transport Ltd.

With the first shipment valued at US$400,000 (RM1.52 million), the companyexpects to increase the export to 10,000 metric tonnes by early Februarynext year.

"With the increasing demand for palm oil in Bangladesh, we hope the importand consumption of the edible oil would increase by next year," he toldreporters after the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) betweenA&S and Keya here Saturday.

Keya Transport, engaged in the transport business and trading, wasrepresented by its managing director, Md Ataur Rahman at the signing.

Sivam said to meet the demand, the company has appointed one of FELCRA'ssubsidiary companies, Vita's Oil Sdn Bhd, to be its main producer for themonthly delivery.

"Vita's will produce the edible oil every month at its plant in ShahAlam," he said.

Besides edible oil, the company would be exporting tyres from Sime TyresSdn Bhd to Bangladesh.

He said the first tyre shipment would be in January next year.
