02/01/2013 (Bernama) - The Terengganu State Farmers' Organisation (PPNT) will implement property projects valued at about RM3 million this year on its own land, says Chairman Sawaluddin Ahmad.

He said the first project - construction of the Wisma Peladang Terengganu 2 building on Jalan Bijangga, Dungun - will cost some RM2 million and generate annual revenue of RM300,000.

"The design for the project, to be developed by Gapets Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned PPNT subsidiary, is awaiting approval by PPNT," he told Bernama here today.

The three-storey building, on a site shared by the Dungun Area Farmers Organisation (PPK) office, will have four shops, 26 budget hotel rooms and a multi-purpose hall, and is expected to be ready by end-2015.

PPNT will also buy a RM1 million three-storey shophouse on Jalan Semarak Kuala Nerus here to rent out.

It also targets business volume of a subsidiary dealing in farm machinery, tractors and mechanised paddy harvesters to grow to RM13 million this year from RM12 million last year, while its bird's nest business at Km10 on Jalan Kota Baharu is expected to bring in annual revenue of RM2.4 million.

Sawaluddin said PPNT's oil palm plantations at Kampung Pelam, Telemong and Bukit Diman generate annual revenues of RM200,000 and RM550,000 respectively, while its 123-ha. orchard in Durian Mentangau Bukit Besi, Dungun produces guava, star fruit, papaya and bananas worth RM190,000 a year.
