Port Qasim\'s Activities
01/10/2012 (Business Recorder) - A cargo volume of 70,125 tonnes comprising 45,335 tonnes of import cargo and 24,790 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,301 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 45,335 tonnes includes 30,389 tonnes of diesel oil; 6,791 tonnes of iron ore; 5,755 tonnes of fertiliser and 2,400 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 24,790 tonnes includes 1,217 tonnes of cement and 23,573 tonnes of containerised cargo.
Two ships namely CV Lantau Arrow and MV Ismail Deep with containers and cement sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours, while another ship namely CV MSC Clementina with containers is expected to sail on Saturday morning. A total number of six vessels viz CV MSC Clementina, CV Lantau Arrow, MV Fisher-D, MV Sea Star Cosmos, MT Al-Salam-II and MV Shan Dong Hai Tong are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, iron ore, diesel oil and fertiliser respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as five ships namely MSC Lana, Ambelos, Framura, Mire and Amagi Galaxy with containers, furnace oil and palm oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Two container ships namely CV MSC Lana and MT Amagi Galaxy with containers and palm oil respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Saturday.
