Malaysian firm to supply Unilever with management
12/27/2004 KUALA LUMPUR -- TH Group Bhd today announced that itssubsidiary, iTECH Worldwide Sdn Bhd, an MSC status company, has secured aproject worth RM380,000 with Unilever Ghana for the supply andimplementation of eFLEX solution, a suite of Malaysian developedmanagement software for plantation & palm oil mill.
iTECH Worldwide has also obtained a letter of understanding from theAfrican Regional Group of Unilever to supply an estimated RM2.0 millionworth of eFLEX software and services to the British giant's plantationoperations in other African countries, following implementation at theUnilever Ghana plantation and palm oil mills, said TH Group in a statementtoday.
"We are excited at the prospect of working with a large multi-nationalgroup such as Unilever who has acknowledged the quality of our home-grownsoftware," said Lei Lin Thai, group managing director of TH Group.
"The software can be tailored to our customers' needs, and this translatesinto ease of deployment by any plantation in any country," he said.
"We have the advantage in the domain knowledge of the plantation industrysince plantation is one of TH Group's core business activities."
"In 2005, we will still be very much focused in Malaysia and Indonesiaalthough our marketing efforts shall expand to Thailand and Vietnam,"added Lei.
"Our approach is to focus on promoting the various benefits of the eFLEXsolution which include cost-efficiency and improved analysis of plantationoperations for supervision and control. The system also allowsadministration staff workload to be reduced from manual operations."
On the domestic front, iTECH Worldwide is in the process to implementeFLEX solutions for subsidiaries of Kulim Bhd and WTK Holdings Bhdcovering a potential size of 74,000 hectares in total.
In Indonesia, iTech will implement eFLEX solutions for PT Duta Palmacovering 55,000 hectares.
eFLEX solution is a web-based and Internet-ready plantation and palm oilmill management system that enables companies with multiple estates/millsat various geographical locations to access online information from theirbase locations and manage these estates/mills remotely using the Internetas a communication channel.
Locations that do not possess the communication infrastructure can use theconventional data transfer route.
The software is functional, scalable, flexible and affordable.
