Hyderabad , Jan. 3 - THE International Crops Research Institute forSemi-Arid Tropics (Icrisat) has launched a research project to enhance theproduction of beta-carotenes in groundnut.

The research is expected to help combat vitamin A deficiency among thepoor.

The research is part of the Global Challenge Programme of the ConsultativeGroup for International Agricultural Research aimed at bio-fortificationof crops to combat malnutrition due to deficiency of nutrients such asiron, zinc and vitamin A, according to an Icrisat press release here onMonday
