17/07/2012 (Bernama) - The oil palm industry plays a key commercial and global role in driving economic growth while providing a big income contribution to Sabah.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin said this in consideration of the fact that last year, Sabah's export of crude palm oil (CPO)totalled 1.22 million tonnes valued at RM3.85 billion.

"Apart from being exported to Brunei Darussalam, a total of 512 tonnes valued at RM1.85 million, was exported to Indonesia at the end of last year.

"Drink products such as Tenom Coffee and Sabah Tea have now successfully penetrated the market at the national level," he added.

He said this in reply to a question from Melanie Chia Chui Ket (Luyang-SAPP) on the types of successful agricultural products in Sabah at the State Assembly here Monday.
