27/06/2012 (BusinessDay) - The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) holds a fund raising event today June 26, 2012, at Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja, Fatai Afolabi, facilitator of the event told BusinessDay in Lagos.

This is coming on the heels of the completion of the sensitization phase for all the stakeholders in the National Interpretation process of the Principles and Criteria of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil.

“As we are set to enter the preparation phase and to enable us implement the process as planned, we feel it auspicious at this time to organize a fundraiser to mobilize financial support for the process,” he said.

Said he: “A budget estimate of N109 million has been prepared to implement the entire RSPO Interpretation process that will span about two years to complete. It is expected that stakeholders on the palm oil supply chain will make financial contributions to fund the budget.”

The event is being co-sponsored by Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc, PZ Cussons and Dansa Agro Plantation Ltd.

Akinwunmi Adesina, Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Olusegun Aganga, the Honourable Minister of Trade and Investments are expected to deliver the Goodwill Message. Gbenga Oyebode (MFR), chairman, Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc would chair the occasion.
