High Commission Organises Seminar on Business Opportunities in M’sia
25/06/2012 (Borneo Post) - The High Commission of Malaysia to the Republic of South Africa organised a one-day seminar, themed ‘Business Opportunities in Malaysia’ in Cape Town, South Africa recently.
The seminar was hosted and attended by about 40 members of Cape Town’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It was participated by Mida Johannesburg, Matrade Johannesburg, and Tourism Malaysia Johannesburg, and the Malaysian Palm Oil Council representative in Durban.
In his address, Jawan spoke on the current political and economic situations in Malaysia, and the vast opportunities as well as why Malaysia should be their country of economic choice and destination.
He also highlighted Malaysia’s five regional economic corridors — the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER); East Coast Economic Region (ECER); Iskandar Malaysia (IM); Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE); and the Sabah Development Corridor (SDC) — to accelerate the development of urban conurbations.
Jawan also reminded the audience of the good relations between Malaysia and South Africa.
He stated that the visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia to South Africa in Jan was testimony of their good bilateral relations, and encouraged South African business community to leverage upon this in pursuing economic and trade collaborations.
The seminar was attended by about 35 members of the Cape Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
The chamber was represented by Joe Emeran, its Immediate past president, and Zaida Jackson, the current vice president of the chambers.
