Activity at Karachi and Qasim Ports

11/06/2012 (Business Recorder) - Port Qasim maintained port's activities of total cargo volume of 95,119 tonnes including 56,862 tonnes of import; 38,257 tonnes of export cargo and the total number of 2,822 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) are handled during the last 24 hours of business activity on Friday.

The total import cargo volume of 56,862 tonnes comprised of 32,453 tonnes of diesel oil; 1,290 tonnes of furnace oil; 6,000 tonnes of palm oil and 17,119 tonnes of containerised cargo are handled during the business activity hours of the port on Friday.

The total export cargo volume of 38,257 tonnes comprised of 1,758 tonnes of cement and 36,499 tonnes of containerised cargo are handled during the reported period of activities.

There are only two cargo vessels namely C V Mari Atlanticum and C V Belgica sailed out to the sea on Friday morning while two more cargo vessels namely M T SC Dalian and M T BW Orinoco are expected to sail out to the sea during business activity hours on the same day evening.

A total number of six cargo vessels namely C V Mari Atlanticum, C V Belgica, M V Leaopard-B, M V BBC Quebec, M T SC Dalian and M T BW Orinoco are currently occupying the berths to load/offload containerised cargo, cement cargo, general cargo, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours of business activities at the port on Friday.

There are total three vessels namely C V Safmarine Ngami, C V Tampa Bay and C V Akakia carrying containerised cargo and furnace oil respectively are currently to line up at the outer anchorage during the business activity hours on Friday.

A total number of four cargo vessels namely C V Safmarine Ngami, C V Tampa Bay, C V Singapore Trader and M T Al-Soor-II carrying containerised cargo and diesel oil respectively are expected to arrive at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Fotco Terminal respectively on Friday. C V MSC Jade and M T Al-Soor-II are due to arrive at Port Qasim on the same day. An edible oil vessel tanker namely Glaxy is due to arrive on Saturday, while three more cargo vessels namely C V Maersk Montana, C V Al-Siera-II and M T Al-Derah are also due to arrive on Sunday at the same port during the business activity hours.
