Parliament Rejects Motion To Debate Israel-Malaysia Ties
30/03/2012 (The Star) - Attempts by Opposition lawmakers to move an emergency motion in Parliament to debate Malaysia's ties with Israel failed Thursday.
Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, in a written reply, rejected the motion on grounds that the issue had been clarified by the Ministry of International Trade and Industries during debates on Mar 26.
DAP's Bakri MP Er Teck Hwa submitted a request for the motion on Mar 27 under Clause 18(1).
He wanted to debate the issue of Malaysia's trade links with Israel, citing the sale of palm oil by a private company.
