Suit Against Wilmar Struck Out
14/02/2012 (The Star) - Wilmar International, the plantation giant controlled by tycoon Robert Kuok, has managed to strike out a close to RM1bil defamation suit that had been initiated by Malaysian-based palm oil trading firm Pacific Inter-Link Sdn Bhd (PIL).
Wilmar told the Singapore Stock Exchange last Friday that the High Court had ordered PIL's writ of summons and statement of claim to be struck out, with costs to be paid by PIL to all the defendants, including Wilmar.
Wilmar's subsidiary, Wilmar Trading Pte Ltd was one of four named defendants in the suit that had been filed last April.
The High Court said the writ of summons and the statement of claim filed by PIL “did not disclose a reasonable or sustainable cause of action,” Wilmar's announcement said.
