Activity At Karachi And Qasim Ports

13/02/2012 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 101,835 tonnes of cargo comprising 70,158 tonnes of import cargo and 31,677 tonnes of export cargo including 4,363 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday.

The total import cargo of 70,158 tonnes comprised of 37,441 tonnes of containerised cargo; 52 tonnes of general cargo; 31,152 tonnes of bulk cargo and 1,513 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 31,677 tonnes comprised of 26,294 tonnes of containerised cargo; 75 tonnes of general cargo; 3,808 tonnes of bulk cargo and 1,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

Five ships sailed out to sea during the reported period.

Five vessels are currently at the berths.

Port Qasim
A cargo volume of 38,704 tonnes, comprising 33,552 tonnes of import cargo and 5,152 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 792 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Saturday.

The total import cargo of 33,552 tonnes includes 16,975 tonnes of furnace oil; 5,600 tonnes of palm oil; 6,548 tonnes of canola seeds and 4,429 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 5,152 tonnes includes 1,398 tonnes of cement and 3,754 tonnes of containerised cargo.

A container ship namely CV Mare Atlanticum sailed out to sea on Saturday morning.

A total number of five CV Falcon-II, CV Mare Atlanticum, MV Ginga Falcon, MT Fair Spirit and MV Coronado are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, Palm oil, furnace oil, canola seeds and cement respectively during last 24 hours.

As many as two ships namely Estia and STX Daisy with diesel oil and urea respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.

A total number of two vessels viz CV MSC Sena and MT Cape Rioli carrying containers and chemicals respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Saturday.
