Provinces Asked to Take Notice of Palm Oil Prices Hike
23/01/2012 (Pakistan Obsever) - Parliamentary Secretary Pir Haider Ali Shah on Thursday informed National Assembly that provincial governments should take notice of increase in prices of palm oil in their respective provinces. Replying to a Calling Attention Notice raised by Malik Shakir Bashir Awan and others regarding increase in prices of palm oil by Rs.7 per kg, he said that provincial governments have been asked to take stern action to control prices of palm oil. Increase in prices of palm oil was unjustified as the manufactures have not increased rates.
However, he said that prices of palm oil have increased $ 5 per ton at international level.
Haider Ali said that oil mills have stock of 480,000 tons of palm oil while 150,000 tons oil was present at Port Qasim.
