25/03/2022 (Nasdaq) - Malaysian palm oil futures rebounded on Friday from a selloff in the previous session, amid tight near-term supplies that helped the contract post a weekly gain of about 7%.

In Malaysia, Antara news agency reports the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources estimates biodiesel’s contribution to the national economy reached $4 billion in 2021, so it will continue to support the blending mandate despite rising palm oil prices.

This is because India imports 60 percent of its edible oil requirement which is about 13 million tonne. JAKARTA: Malaysian palm oil futures dropped on Thursday after oil prices fell, making palm a less attractive option for the biodiesel feedstock, while investors monitored developments from meetings in Europe on the war in Ukraine.

Since the oils produced from the microalgae are edible and have superior properties as those found in palm oil, the newly discovered method would serve as a healthier and greener alternative to palm oil.
