High CPO prices may stall national biodiesel plan

20/8/06 (The Edge News) - The government’s plan for the mandatory use of 5% palm oil content (biodiesel) in diesel by January 2007 may hit a snag if production of biodiesel becomes too expensive due to the rise of crude palm oil (CPO) prices, analysts said.

Cut in duty proposed for checking ghee and oil prices

19/8/06 ISLAMABAD (Business Recorder) - : The Ministry of Industry and Production has recommended to the federal government that the rate of customs duty on RBD palm olien and palm oil should be reduced by Rs 4,000 per tonne to offset the impact of increase in prices in the domestic market, official sources told Business Recorder here on Friday.

Biofuel To Boost Palm Oil Prices

15/7/06 (AFP) -- Growing interest in biofuel is expected to boost the already buoyant price of palm oil, Malaysia's Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Peter Chin said Aug. 14. Chin said that biofuel, which is derived from natural oils and plants such as coconuts and sugarcane, had created new demand for palm oil which is currently enjoying prices of 1,600 ringgit (US$436 ) per ton.
