2/2/06 Mumbai (Business Line) - JANUARY saw a further decline in vegetable oil imports. According to preliminary data made available to Business Line by the industry portal Oilmandi.com, arrivals last month totalled 1.88 lakh tonnes comprising approximately 70,000 tonnes of crude degummed soyabean oil, 98,000 tonnes of crude palm oil and about 10,000 tonnes each of refined palmolein and crude sunflower oil.

3/2/06 NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Thurs: Edible oil imports by India, the world's largest buyer, are likely to decline by 21 per cent in the first quarter of 2006 because of strong domestic supplies, a top industry official said today.

With the European Directive targeting 5.75% biofuels usage by 2010 the industry is mobilising, biorefineries are being built and contracts draw up with feedstock suppliers across the region.
