Cargill Expands Commitment To Responsible Supply Chains
16/07/2013 (Sacramento Bee) - As part of its commitment to operating responsible supply chains, Cargill today announced a new assessment tool to help food and beverage customers achieve their growth, cost reduction and risk mitigation goals by identifying, prioritizing and quantifying risks and opportunities in its supply chains. The announcement was made at the 2013 Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Food Expo.

The smog roiling Indonesia and its neighbors is partly a result of Indonesia’s ‘green growth’ strategy, which involves clearing forests for the rapid expansion of oil palm and pulp plantations.

The governments of Singapore and Malaysia urged Indonesia to take measures to address the fires, while President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono apologized for the haze saga.

15/07/2013 (Borneo Post) - Crude palm oil futures (FCPO) on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives fell from the peak of 2,400 to as low as 2,295 at end the week in a bearish note. Despite the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) report leaning towards positive sentiment, the bearish export figures from both MPOB, Intertek Testing Services (ITS) and Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS) reports dominated the week’s selloff.
