A hidden gem in the plantation industry

05/08/2024 (The Edge Malaysia) - Negeri Sembilan Oil Palms Bhd (KL:NSOP) has had a long-standing presence in the plantation industry. Incorporated in March 1928 and listed on Bursa Malaysia’s Main Market in October 1969, the small-cap planter is 55.13%-owned by Tiong Thye Co Sdn Bhd, which is controlled by the Goh family from Singapore.

Its operations span 22,763ha in the Gunung Rara or Kalabakan area, with 54% currently being used for oil palm cultivation and 12% for industrial tree plantations.

Malaysian palm oil future drops on strong ringgit

01/08/2024 (Business Recorder), Jakarta - Malaysian palm oil futures fell and posted a second straight monthly drop on Wednesday despite strong July export as a stronger ringgit weighed down the price. The benchmark palm oil contract for October delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange lost 6 ringgit, or 0.15%, to 3,909 ringgit ($851.26) a metric ton at closing. The contract is down 0.18% for the month.
